Avampato Discovery Museum

The Roto team was commissioned for complete design-build execution of the new "Sunrise Museum" (now Avampato Discovery Museum), which opened at the Clay Center in Charleston, West Virginia, in 2003. Roto's scope was comprehensive, including master planning, exhibit design and development, prototyping, fabrication and turn-key installation for approximately 12,000 square feet of highly-original interactive exhibits.

Highlights:

  • Earth City, powerful earth science content cast in the engaging form of a roadside attraction
  • Gizmo Factory, "classic" physical science interactives in a high-design package inspired by the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright
  • Health Royale, part interactive exhibit, part game show
  • Kidspace, a protected area for young children
