Jim Henson Legacy

The Jim Henson Legacy Inc., founded by the family and close business partners of Jim Henson after his death, commissioned Roto Studio to provide museum planning and conceptual design services for a proposed museum in New York dedicated to the art, humor and technology of Jim Henson and his many associates. Shortly after the plan was completed, a sale of “Muppet” properties changed the conditions under which the museum could be built, but the inspiration for interdisciplinary collections, open-ended creativity experiences, media exhibits and colorful, off-beat environments became a model for much of Roto’s interactive museum work ever since.

project highlights:

  • original collections of early Henson puppetry artifacts
  • rich, media-driven environments
  • open-ended interactives, both high-tech and low
  • puppet-making studios, performance classes
