Hard Rock Park
Roto provided $1.0 million worth of interactive elements for the Hard Rock Theme Park which opened in May 2008, including numerous outdoor installations. These components included an interactive ZZ Top car, a rumbling Harley motorcycle and photo op, a giant Elvis Cow fountain used by trained actors to heckle park guests, and a colossal Water Guitar that plays music as guests pluck its water-strings (all pictured). Building for theme park guests is demanding and rigorous, second only to building for Zoo patrons in terms of wear and tear.
Many different materials were used in the various exhibits, including wood, fiberglass, steel, glass, concrete and plastic. Most electronics were housed in conditioned spaces and remotely-wired in to each site, although some equipment was exposed to the harsh salt air of Myrtle Beach, SC. The project represents a small part of Roto’s versatility and applicability to zoo projects.
