Buffalo Museum of Science

BMS is a venerable institution (built in 1929) with a serious but all-too-common problem.  Wonderful collections, but worn-out exhibits and persistently flagging attendance.

In 2010 Roto won the national competition to provide a comprehensive Master Plan, built to maximize the impact of a targeted, realistic fundraising target.  Roto worked with Museum staff over a period of 3 months to define no fewer than 9 major new exhibit/program initiatives (called “science studios”) in a detailed visioning document that fully maps out diverse renovation plans across a 5-year renewal period.

Update:

Buffalo Museum of Science has hired Roto to design and build the first two “studios,” on health and earth science topics respectively, scheduled to open in early and late 2012.
